The Mitchell Shire community is celebrating the well-deserved recognition of Sarah Brewer, President of the charity Love in Action, who has been named a 2025 Westfield Local Hero for Westfield Plenty Valley.
Sarah’s tireless dedication to supporting local residents experiencing financial hardship has made her an inspiring figure. Through Love in Action, a group founded ten years ago by her parents and now a vital community charity, she helps hundreds of people across Wallan, Beveridge, and Kilmore put food on the table and access essential items.
The organization, which relies on community-donated food and goods, provides assistance in many ways:
As a Westfield Local Hero, Sarah’s charity, Love in Action, received a significant $20,000 grant. This funding is crucial and will be used to purchase holiday presents and food for families in need, as well as new shelving to better manage the large volume of donations.
Speaking about the award, Sarah acknowledged the amazing team of volunteers who make the work possible and highlighted her core belief: “Our purpose as humans is to be able to help each other, and to see that it is not lost, that people still want to help their fellow neighbours, is massive.”
Sarah Brewer’s recognition is a testament to the profound impact that dedicated, compassionate volunteering can have on a local community.
