What We Do
Love in Action is a group of friends in the Mitchell Shire area who support homeless and struggling families in our community… Yes we DO have homeless in our area sadly.
We provide food & essential items to anyone needing help in the local area. The items are donated by community members dropping in to donation trolleys placed at the doors of local businesses (Cafe Vento Wallan, LJ Hooker Wallan, Coles Wallan and Coles Kilmore) This empowers the community to look after the community.
The years 2020 & 2021 saw unprecedented requests for help due to the Covid19 pandemic, but 2022 has seen even more people and families reach out for help, finding it impossible to navigate through the skyrocketing price of living, interest rate rises and what we are beginning to see as a homelessness epidemic.
On top of emergency food and essential item hampers, that we deliver on an almost daily basis, Love In Action also give Christmas, Easter & Winter hampers, as well as gifts for those doing it tough at special times of the year like Mothers Day or Fathers Day.

How can you help?
Love In Action represents a community helping each other. The food and essential items that go out to families in need are sourced mostly from the community itself.
Donations can be left at LJ Hooker Wallan, Cafe Vento Wallan or Coles in Wallan & Kilmore.
PLEASE NOTE ONLY FOOD DONATIONS THAT ARE IN DATE CAN BE LEFT AT THESE PREMISES. NO SECOND HAND GOODS PLEASE.

Our History:
Love In Action Wallan was created by Susan and Jeremy Scrivens in their Wallan living room in 2016.
After receiving help & support during their son’s brain cancer journey, the couple wanted to give back to the community and started out helping 6 families who were doing it tough with food and essential items sourced from donations from other community members.
Since then they have enlisted the help of friends and volunteers to now helping over 300 families per year.
In 2022 Love In Action became incorporated and a registered charity endorsed by the Australian Tax Office, which means your donation can now be claimed on your tax refund!
